MAGIC observations of PG 1553+113 during a multiwavelength campaign in July 2006

چکیده
The active galactic nucleus PG 1553+113 was observed by the MAGIC telescope in July 2006 during a multiwavelength campaign, in which telescopes in the optical, X-ray, and very high energies participated. Although the MAGIC data were affected by strong atmospheric absorption (calima), they were analyzed after applying a correction. In 8.5 h, a signal was detected with a significance of 5.0σ. The integral flux above 150 GeV was (2.6 ± 0.9) × 10−7 ph s−1 m−2. By fitting the differential energy spectrum with a power law, a spectral index of −4.1 ± 0.3 was obtained.

متن کاملA new upper limit on the redshift of PG 1553+113 from observations with the MAGIC Telescope
Very high energy gamma ray emission from the active galactic nucleus PG 1553+113 was observed during 2005 and 2006 by the MAGIC collaboration, for a total observation time of 18.8 hours. Here we present the results of follow up observations: more than 20 hours of good quality data collected by the MAGIC Telescope during the 2007 and 2008 campaigns. The obtained spectra are compared and combined...
متن کاملDetection of Vhe Radiation from the Bl Lac Pg 1553+113 with the Magic Telescope
In 2005 and 2006, the MAGIC telescope has observed very high energy gamma-ray emission from the distant BL Lac object PG 1553+113. The overall significance of the signal is 8.8 σ for 18.8 h observation time. The light curve shows no significant flux variations on a daily time-scale, the flux level during 2005 was, however, significantly higher compared to 2006. The differential energy spectrum ...

The MAGIC telescope has observed very-high energy gamma-ray emission from the BL Lac object PG 1553+113 in 2005 and 2006 at an overall significance is 8.8σ . The light curve shows no significant flux variations on a daily timescale. The flux level during 2005 was, however, significantly higher as compared to 2006. The differential energy spectrum between ∼90 GeV and 500 GeV is well described by...
متن کاملPg 1553+113: Five Years of Observations with Magic
We present the results of five years (2005–2009) of MAGIC observations of the BL Lac object PG 1553+113 at very high energies (VHEs, E > 100GeV). Power law fits of the individual years are compatible with a steady mean photon index Γ = 4.27 ± 0.14. In the last three years of data, the
